The plantains, from which the SAMAI Plantain Chips The products are made by farmers on the Pacific coast of Ecuador.

The bananas are ripened naturally, harvested by hand, and the finest pieces are selected by hand. They are then transported directly to the processing facility at the plantation to ensure maximum freshness. Upon arrival, they are selected, peeled, and sliced ​​by experienced hands. Finally, they are fried until crispy in non-hydrated, pure vegetable oil, preserving their natural aroma and numerous nutrients.

The chips are seasoned exclusively with sea salt. They contain no added sugar, artificial flavor enhancers, artificial flavors, colors, or monosodium glutamate. This preserves their completely natural taste.

The chips are unpacked under strictly controlled conditions, so that the freshness and excellent quality are preserved.

The Plantain (Planting banana) is a type of banana that is eaten boiled, steamed, baked, fried, or deep-fried. Due to its high nutritional content, it is considered a staple food in the coastal regions of South America, Africa, and Asia.

When frying or roasting plantains, only non-hydrogenated palm oil (palmolein) is used. This low-saturation (rather liquid) oil is obtained from the fruit of the oil palm by boiling or pressing. No chemical agents are used in this process. Unlike palm kernel oil and coconut oil, palmolein contains fewer saturated components.

Like other vegetable oils, palmolein is cholesterol-free, and because it is not hydrogenated, it is also free of trans fats. It is rich in tocopherols and tocotrienodes (vitamin E). Red palm oil is the best natural source of beta-carotene (provitamin A).

The palm oil was selected for the production of SAMAI products based on the following criteria:

  1. The fatty acids in palm oil are in perfect harmony and ensure that the oil remains stable even under high heat.

  2. Oil palms grow in the same regions (in the tropics of Ecuador) as the other ingredients. This ensures the use of fresh oil and contributes to the development of the local economy.

  3. Last but not least, the oil used comes from plantations outside the protected rainforest. The palm trees cover their surroundings with a green canopy, thus enabling the development of numerous plants and animals. Due to their carbon dioxide absorption, they are more effective at purifying the air than soy plantations.
